The legend pertains to
a king. The king invited merchants from far and wide
and proclaimed that the king himself would purchase
all unsold goods. The merchants were happy. Once a blacksmith
brought an iron image of Saturn for sale, which ultimately
was purchased by the king, who installed that in his
palace with reverence. Other gods became unhappy on
this action of the king. At night, the king saw a brilliant
woman going out of the house. On king's enquiry, he
learnt that, it was Lakshmi. She said that she could
not stay in the place where Saturn is present. After
sometime a male image went out and was told to be Bhaivabh
(Prosperity). Similarly all other gods Dharma (Religion),
Dheriye (Patience), Kshama (Pardon) and all others went
out. When the last Satya (Truth) was going out, the
king protested and said that because of faith in Satya,
he did not object to the others from going out. Feeling
the sentiments of the king, Satya stopped. All other
deities were waiting outside for Satya, but when he
did not come out Dharma (religion) said that he could
not remain without Satya; so he returned in. Similarly
all others followed suite and all gods and attributes
came back inside the palace. They told the king that
only because of his devotion to the Satya (truth); they
all had to return and that such a king could never be
unhappy. Due to the devotion to Satya, (truth), Lakshmi
(wealth) and Shani (Saturn) came to live together, to
the benefit of the devotees.
Saturn is your purpose in life. It's your life plan,
the direction you take, the work you do. It's your goal,
your objective, the lessons you must learn along the
way. It is patience, honesty, trust, objectivity, and
common sense. It's the structure of your life, the foundations
upon which you build and how you build your life.
Saturn rules Capricorn and therefore retains all the
qualities and characteristics of that sign plus the
10th solar house.
Saturn is constantly teaching lessons. It causes delays
so you may learn patience, it causes trouble so you
may learn to be honest with yourself and others and
to teach you to be objective. It balances Jupiter's
expansiveness with prudence, Jupiter's luck with practicality,
Jupiter's enthusiasm with soberness and conservation
- in short it is the opposite of Jupiter. Where Jupiter
is the optimist, Saturn is the pessimist. Saturn gives
direction to the rest of the planets. They will all
operate according to where Saturn is placed and how
it's aspected. Perhaps this is better understood by
saying that your life revolves around your work or your
objective.
Saturn offers a steadying effect to the rest of the
planets and keeps your feet on the ground. For example,
if you had Mercury square Neptune in your chart, meaning
that you are too naive, too idealistic, then you'd need
an aspect to Saturn to help steady you. It would add
some common sense where it would be needed.
A cold and dry planet, Saturn rules
over the hard parts of human body - bones, teeth, knees
and ears and indicates recurring health problems. Saturn
makes its subjects work in secondary positions, doing
dull routine and ordinary jobs. Various professionals
like: Also historians, archaeologists, covators of museums,
workers in refrigeration factories etc. are ruled by
Saturn. Saturn commands to get to hard work. The planet
gives huge importance to discipline and responsibility.
Saturn with masculine energy rules Capricorn and Aquarius.
