Staurolite |
 |
|
Opaque, cross-shaped staurolite "twins"are used in jewellery more often than the transparent scones, which are rare and cut only for collectors. "Cross-stones", as twins are called, have been used as amulets and in religious jewellery. (Crystals are reddish brown) to black, with distinct pleochroism.

Lialac-pink
kunzite is named after the gemologist G.F. Kunz, who first
described it in 1902; hiddenites is named after W.E. Hidden,
who discovered it in North (Carolina in 1879).
